The History Club at FSU

Welcome message

We welcome you to The History Club of FSU, the meeting place for students who are interested in history or becoming a part of the historical community at Florida State. As an organization, we invite our members to engage more fully with the historical resources available on FSU's main campus: through organizing and hosting events with history faculty. Furthermore, we want to foster a fun and open community for everyone to participate in with discussions, games, and social events.

Ava, Erin, Anna and Aly

Mission Statement

The History Club of FSU serves as an organization open to all students to spread awareness of historical topics, of FSU's historical resources, and to bring those interested in history together.

Elected officers (2023-2024)

Ava Monastero - President

Hello, my name is Ava Monastero and I am the President this year for the History Club at FSU. I am a junior majoring in Social Science Education with a minor in Italian as well. I want to be a history teacher after I graduate from FSU and I love learning about ancient civilizations, any wars, and American history. For me, the History Club has always been a fun and safe environment to learn more about our past alongside people with similar interests. Some fun facts about me are that I can speak Spanish and fluent Italian and I am also from Chicago! My goal for this year is to get our members more interested in History as well as increasing the involvement and participation from our club members!

Erin Alderman - Vice President

Hi everyone! My name is Erin Alderman, and I’m serving as the Vice President of the History Club at Florida State University. I graduated with my BA in Humanities from FSU back in summer 2023, and now I'm studying Criminology for my MA from FSU. I have a beautiful fluffy cat named Espresso, and my favorite color is yellow! My main points of interest in history are the Classical Age (around 500 BCE) and the American Revolutionary (around 1776-1789). I worked at FSU libraries for my first two years here and I currently work at the Department of Modern Languages. I look forward to connecting with both new and previous members of the FSU History Club!

Anna Jacoby - Secretary

Hello, my name is Anna Jacoby and I am your Secretary this year! This is my third year studying geography at FSU. I don’t know if I have a favorite history topic, but I enjoy learning about history that is less well known. I think that the History Club is a great way to meet friends and learn about some interesting things too! One fun fact about me is that I have a cat named Flora. Some other things that I also enjoy doing outside of the club are thrifting, collecting vinyl, and being outdoors. I am excited to see everyone at the meetings this year!

Aly Drapcho - Treasurer

Hi! I’m Aly Drapcho, and I am the Treasurer this year for the History Club. I’m a junior right now, and I am studying art and geography. I have a gecko named Lazarus, and one of my hobbies is printmaking! My interests in history are pretty broad, I like learning about things like food and the fashion industry. I’d like to learn more about the post Civil War and Industrial Revolution times as well. I am looking forward to learning with all y’all!
