FSU | Department of History
Welcome to the Florida State University Department of History, a place to examine the past to make informed choices for the future.
A History degree prepares you for wherever your imagination and determination take you because you hone your analytical thinking, research, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Find out more about History's graduate student association. In this interview, we hear from Monique Hyman about her graduate school career and her involvement in the HGSA.
Having a large department means we have faculty who specialize in almost every area of the globe from the Medieval period to the recent past.
On average, we have 340 History majors each year. Students build community through the undergraduate History Club and the History Graduate Student Association.
As of 2022, 25% of our undergraduates, 18% of our graduate students, and 14% of our faculty come from historically underrepresented minorities in the field of History.
