Brian Davis Jr. is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate whose research explores Cold War-era Black military experiences, with a particular focus on the intersections of race, service, and activism. His scholarship contributes to broader conversations in African American history and U.S. military history, emphasizing how Black service members navigated and influenced the shifting social and political landscape of the mid-20th century. He earned his B.A. in History from Winston-Salem State University and his M.A. in History from Florida State University in 2022. Brian is a contributor to the recently published volume Picturing Black History: Photographs and Stories That Changed the World, which highlights pivotal moments in African American history through powerful visual storytelling. His research has been recognized and supported by several prestigious fellowships and awards, including the Martin-Vegue Fellowship, the McKnight Dissertation Fellowship, and the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation Travel Grant. In addition, he was also a 2024 Society of Military History Summer Seminar Fellow.
