Dr. Weiwei Luo is a legal and economic historian with regional specialization in East Asia (especially China). Her interest in legal history and comparative institutions emerged during her training at Washington University School of Law, where she was an Alex Handler Scholar and Law Awards Scholar. After completing her J.D., Dr. Luo pursued graduate study at Columbia University, where she received her Ph.D. in History. Her current book manuscript, which is based on her dissertation, focuses on property rights, state-making, and the global modernity. Dr. Luo’s research has been supported by various fellowships and grants, including the Andrew Mellon foundation and the American Council of Learned Societies.
