I completed my PhD at FSU in May 2018. I stayed in Tallahassee for another year, during which I taught at Florida State University and FAMU, before I took a position as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Southern Mississippi. After two years at Southern Miss, I decided to pivot and leave the faculty track of academia.

History major Ryan completed his senior seminar with Dr. Nilay Özok-Gündoğan. He had always been interested in military history and the seminar on 'World War I and the Middle East' was a great fit. Ryan's advice: "Be passionate about the work you do – and you will do well. If you find something you love, it will not seem like work to you."

Christina Portuallo graduated with a BA in History in spring of 2021. She just completed her second year at FSU's College of Law. In this interview, Portuallo talks about how being a History major prepared her for law school.

Caroline Hackett, a PhD candidate in early modern French history, directed a UROP project on the relation between women and property in Old Regime Languedoc. She mentored two undergraduate students, Emily, a first-year International Affairs and Human Rights major, and Heesu, a first-year History major, working on primary sources both in English and French.

I am Alice Zhang; I am a fourth-year PhD candidate in History at Florida State University. I am working on the history of Chinese adoptions to the U.S. In spring 2023, I was on a Walbolt fellowship that allowed me to go to Minneapolis for research. I worked at the International Social Welfare History Archive on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
